Please make sure to read through these details carefully.
We wish you the best as you take the lead in your English learning journey!
All incoming freshmen are required to complete the online English Pre-test prior to entry. The results will serve as the basis for course leveling and class placement for the compulsory English curriculum.
For detailed instructions, please refer to the "Freshmen English Placement Pre-test Guidelines".
The university-required English courses for the undergraduate day division are divided into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate.
To facilitate proper course placement, all incoming freshmen must complete the online pre-test. Students will only be placed into their respective classes once their language proficiency level has been determined by their pre-test scores.
Each college has designated specific time slots for Freshmen English courses. When selecting your courses, please keep these time slots open to avoid any scheduling conflicts.
To satisfy the university-wide English graduation requirements, undergraduate students must meet one of the following language proficiency standards (or equivalent scores from other English proficiency tests mapped to the CEFR B1 level, such as TOEFL or IELTS): CSEPT: 170 points; TOEIC: 400 points; GEPT (General English Proficiency Test): Passing score on the Intermediate Level Preliminary Test
The International Language Center provides two remedial tracks each semester for students who have not yet met the English graduation requirements: Intensive English Proficiency Courses and the Online Independent Study Program.
Both pathways are specifically designed to assist students in preparing effectively to retake their English proficiency tests.
